What is Flex Performance?

More capacity, without paying for a single memory tier

Flex Performance nodes use adaptive memory-tiering technology to deliver large memory capacity at a lower cost than traditional single-tier RAM. Your VM's active working set is automatically kept in fast-access memory, while less-frequently-used data is tiered — giving you the capacity you need without the price of pure high-density DDR4/DDR5.

Workload behavior is monitored continuously. If your VM needs more consistent memory access, our infrastructure can move it to a standard high-performance node automatically.

Best for

  • Minecraft, Rust, ARK, and other game servers
  • Discord bots and Lavalink audio hosting
  • CI/CD build runners
  • Backup and archival workloads
  • General-purpose budget VPS: web hosting, dev/test environments, and small apps

Not recommended for

  • Production databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB)
  • DNS infrastructure
  • Security scanning or high-frequency-trading-style latency-sensitive workloads
  • Any workload requiring consistent sub-millisecond memory access under sustained random-access load

How it works

A layered memory architecture

Flex Performance nodes use a fast cache layer backed by high-capacity tiered memory. Your hypervisor and our infrastructure automatically monitor workload behavior.

If a VM's memory access pattern becomes heavy or latency-sensitive, it is automatically migrated to a standard high-performance node at no cost to you, with minimal service interruption.

Adaptive by design. You get the economics of tiered memory, with an automatic path to consistent high-performance memory if your workload changes.

Flex Performance FAQ

Will I notice a difference from standard VPS plans?

For the workloads listed above, most customers see no noticeable difference. Workloads with heavy random-memory-access patterns (for example, large in-memory databases) may see reduced performance — which is why we recommend our AMD Ryzen or AMD EPYC plans for those use cases.

What happens if my workload changes and needs more consistent memory access?

Our infrastructure automatically detects this and can migrate your VM to a standard-tier node. If you know in advance you need guaranteed high-performance memory, we recommend starting on a Ryzen or EPYC plan.

Is my data safe if the node reboots or loses power?

Yes — Flex Performance memory behaves as standard volatile RAM; there is no data-persistence difference from any other VPS plan. All standard backup options (Kopia-based automated backups and snapshots) apply the same as other tiers.

Can I upgrade from Flex Performance to Ryzen or EPYC later?

Yes. Upgrades are available at any time through the panel. Contact support if you would like help planning a migration.
